چکیده

Figure 1: Comparison of CMA and CPL blind equalizer performance (nonlinear channel) Figure 2: Comparison of CMA and CPL blind equalizer performance (linear channel) Abstract Canonical piecewise linear structures provide a desirable compromise between the approximation ability of nonlinear models and the eeciency and theoretical accessibility of the linear domain, and they reduce the parameter storage requirement of piecewise linear models considerably by employing a global linear representation. We rst study the representation and approximation ability of CPL network and show that we can always construct a partition for which a CPL representation exists, and that we can approximate any given continuous nonlinear mapping with a CPL network. We then present application of CPL network to blind equalization, show the ability of CPL equalizer to achieve blind equalization of a nonlinear channel, speciically, we show that if the distribution of the equalizer output is the same as that of the input to the channel, then the channel and equalizer combination is identity except for a sign and a delay factor. We also present experimental results to show the successful application of CPL lter to blind equalization.

Recurrent canonical piecewise linear network for blind equalization

The recurrent canonical piecewise linear (RCPL) network is applied to nonlinear blind equalization by generalizing Donoho's minimum entropy deconvolution approach. We rst study the approximation ability of the canonical piecewise linear (CPL) network and the CPL based distribution learning for blind equalization. We then generalize these conclusions to the RCPL network. We show that nonlinear b...

Recurrent Canonical Piecewise Linear Network and Its Application to Adaptive Equalization - Neural Networks, 1996., IEEE International Conference on

In this paper, we present a recurrent canonical piecewise linear (RCPL) network based on canonical piecewise-linear (CPL) function and autoregressive moving average model, and apply it to adaptive channel equalization. It, is shown that a recurrent neural network with piecewise linear activation function realizes an RCPL network. RCPL network has several advantages: First, i t can make use of s...

A piecewise linear recurrent neural network structure and its dynamics

We present a piecewise linear recurrent neural network (PLRNN) structure by combining the canonical piecewise linear function with the autoregressive moving average (ARMA) model such that an augmented input space is partitioned into regions where an ARMA model is used in each. The piecewise linear structure allows for easy implementation, and in training, allows for use of standard linear adapt...

A blind network of extended Kalman filters for nonstationary channel equalization

In this paper, a blind Network of Extended Kalman Filters (NEKF) is introduced for nonstationary linear channel equalization. The structure of NKF was recently suggested for optimal channel equalization. As the knowledge of the channel is the main constraint within the NKF equalizer, we here propose to extend the state to estimate, that was previously formed by the last M transmitted symbols, t...

On the Nonlinear Prediction for Blind Equalization: Is That a Good Choice?

In this paper we investigate the conditions of applicability of a nonlinear predictor based on neural networks to perform blind equalization using only one input instead of several ones as usual in linear strategies. Linear and nonlinear prediction concepts are revisited in order to clarify some believes. A new self-organized learning algorithm is proposed in order to improve the performance of...
